I am trying to get a laptop to work with OpenSolaris. I'd like a card, any card, that is solidly supported and has reasonably modern 802.11 support. I need something like 802.11n or at least MIMO. Standard g doesn't get a good enough signal at my location.
Folks said Atheros support is good, so I got a Linksys WPC100. That may have been a mistake. It doesn't work at all in 2008.11. In 2009.6 (111), it is detected by the ath driver, but is flaky. I've gotten it to work a couple of times, but normally no access points are detected. I tried removing the ath driver and using arn. It reliably connects. But I get very high packet loss rates, high enough that most of the time it's unusable. I'm willing to order a card, although I'd prefer one I can get locally in Staples or Bestbuy. But if I have to I'll order. Can someone suggest any card that will work reliably in Opensolaris, and has support for fairly recent standards? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
