Best to have at least 2 GB of RAM, in my experience with 3GB I am
getting close to native speed with XP in VirtualBox on SXCE.

Strongly recommend you upgrade to a recent release of either
OpenSolaris or SXCE.  Either will do, depends on your personal
experience.
