Thank you. I might be lucky, as this was an expensive business laptop (came 
with Vista business). It's an SZ4-XWN/C. 

It should have the latest BIOS, as in the last couple of weeks it went back to 
Sony as the hinge broke. 

Sony say "it might be wear and tear, or it my be customer abuse, but it is 
irrelevant what is it is, as neither are covered by the extended warranty". So 
a business laptop which is just under 2-years old might have wear and tear that 
causes damage. 

You can bet Sony are going to get a fight on their hands over this one. I'm 
quite willing to take it to court if necessary. It's cost me ?225 to get it 
back working. The idiots have replaced 

* The chassis - nothing wrong with it. 
* The motherboard - nothing wrong with it
* The hard drive - nothing wrong with it. 

No charges for the above 3, but they have charged me for the hinge and the 
plastic parts it damaged. I am not a happy bunny!!
