hi eric, thanks for the drivers link! the switch does switch between graphics cards on my machine too, but the exhaust out the back is MUCH cooler in 'stamina' mode-- i just figured it was throttling back the CPU, but maybe all that heat is being generated by the nVidia hardware-- they do put some big heatsinks on graf/x chips i guess....
the guy at the sony store did say i could expect around 4hrs battery life-- i'm stoked if i get half that as my ferrari didn't seem to last very long at all. i love the screen on this thing-- i booted it into windows when i first got it (i know, i know, for shame!) and watched the casino royale trailer in 16:10-- man its looked good! i hope i can get rid of the banding that i'm seeing under solaris though-- it would be a pity to let that screen go to waste. i'm suspicious of the xorg.conf because i installed solaris with the switch in the intel video mode and maybe the settings got tuned for the intel hardware instead of the nVidia.
