I didn't really know wether to post this here or in the "installation" forum...
But I think here is better.

I installed snv_46 on my brand new laptop, here are my specs (the relevant
ones):

Proc: Turion 64x2 (TL-50)
GC: Nvidia GeForce Go 6100
SC: Nvidia MCP591 High Definition Audio
WLAN: Broadcom 4318

So... The installation went on rather slow I would say. But then again,
everything works really strange in this laptop.

After installing the OS, everything else went smooth.

1. Nvidia card:
I downloaded the latest driver from nvidia's webpage (it says it's for nvidia
quadro, but it works). Installed it, changed xorg (with nvidia-xconfig), and
installed the driver with the following command:

update_drv -a -i '"pci10de,247"' nvidia <- (one must look with scanpci -v for
the appropriate pci address)

2. Installed SunStudio 11
3. wireless:
   a) Downloaded ndis from opensolaris website
   b) Copied BCMWL5.SYS and BCMWL5.INF to the Solaris partition
   c) Followed instructions from ndis at opensolaris website
c.i) Be careful to convert the .inf file with iconv as states in the
instructions
       c.ii) cp BCMWL5.SYS ndis.sys ; cp BCMWL5.INF ndis.inf (converted inf)
   d) Downloaded inetmenu from opensolaris website
   e) when everything was done, I could connect easily to my wireless lan with
inetmenu.
4... Bugs:

 a) I never got the sound to work
 b) Of course I didn't find a 64-bit driver version for my bcm4318
 c) Gaim wouldn't connect to msn. So I downloaded a new one using pkg-get
    c.i) What a great feature is pkg-get!! I don't remember where I got it
though
 d) Anytime, I was working or sth, and suddenly my mouse would freeze and the
laptop would shutdown. Just like that. I think it has something to do with the
wireless card, as I've read that bcm 4318 is particularly difficult.
 e) I didn't find the driver for my printer: HP PSC 1510

Anyway... That was my experience :)

Happy reading
