The fmd daemon spends a very large amount of time writing to the error log on my Fujitsu N3010 laptop. It'll sleep for a few minutes and then wake up and spend a couple of minutes writing to the errorlog, making the disk spin, which is how I noticed it. After a few minutes, it will go back to sleep. There doesn't seem to be anything periodic or regular about the intervals.
The output from fmdump is this: > # fmdump -e | head > TIME CLASS > May 24 17:05:28.7194 ereport.io.ddi.fm-capability > May 24 17:05:28.8204 ereport.io.ddi.fm-capability > May 24 17:05:29.5195 ereport.io.ddi.fm-capability > May 24 17:05:29.6194 ereport.io.ddi.fm-capability > May 24 17:05:29.7195 ereport.io.ddi.fm-capability > May 24 17:05:29.8203 ereport.io.ddi.fm-capability > May 24 17:05:29.9193 ereport.io.ddi.fm-capability > May 24 17:05:30.0193 ereport.io.ddi.fm-capability > May 24 17:05:30.1193 ereport.io.ddi.fm-capability > # Any ideas?
