Hi folks-- I'm pretty close to completing the wireless connection on my 4-year old Tadpole x86 laptop, but I could use some help with the final steps.
I'm using the OpenSolaris pcwl0 driver and wificonfig app. - www.opensolaris.org/os/community/laptop/wireless/pcwl/ - opensolaris.org/os/community/laptop/wireless/wificonfig/ The wireless card is Netgear MA401 The laptop is a Tadpole Talin 15 (Pentium 4 2.4Ghz) the OS is Solaris 10 5/08 release with up to date patches With the Netgear wireless card installed, pkgadd for the pcwl0 driver installed with no errors or warnings. I used "ifconfig rtls0 down" to offline the internal ethernet port. I used "ifconfig pcwl0 plumb" to set up the wireless driver with Netgear card. I used "ifconfig pcwl0 up" to bring it online. I can see my wireless network with the "wificonfig -i pcwl0 scan" command. However, scan reports that my wireless network encryption is wep, when in fact it is WPA. Obviously when it try to set up a profile using WEP or WPA it errors out. I also tried encryption=none with no luck. When I use the "wificonfig -i pcwl0 showstatus" cmd, it reports, "linkstatus: not connected" Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. -- jsa --------------------------------- John Alfeld email: john.alfeld at Sun.COM
