I have the same problem on my laptop. I run on an Intel CoreDuo (MSI MS-1057 laptop). I remember being told here on the mailing lists / forums that after b72 the CoreDuo machines would function with speed stepping.
Rerunning frkit from scratch tells me I need no fresher modules. I don't have any warnings on boot anymore like I used to, but the powernow service is not running, I have the same situation in /dev as described above and trying to run the service by hand: [root at asagao-jkk ~]$ svcs -xv powernow svc:/site/powernow:default (Control AMD power states depending on CPU use.) State: maintenance since Sun Jan 13 22:23:51 2008 Reason: Start method exited with $SMF_EXIT_ERR_FATAL. See: http://sun.com/msg/SMF-8000-KS See: /var/svc/log/site-powernow:default.log Impact: This service is not running. I have not followed the recent developments as regards speed stepping due to much to do at work, I'll take "it's not working on those yet" as an answer if that's still the case. If not, I'd be happy to hear what may make it work. Thanks, Hakim This message posted from opensolaris.org
