This is a bad choice for a laptop... dual core AMD does not have any 
kind of power savings support right now, and it is likely to be a while 
before that is fixed.  So you'll have a shorter battery life.

I'd opt for a Core 2 Duo system instead.

I'd go for a Toshiba Tecra M5 right now.  We have some internal efforts 
around this laptop, so you're likely to see any features not supported 
out of the box supported really soon.

Right now, the platform is quite usable, and it ships with supported 
Intel gigabit ethernet and supported 3945 wifi.

Of course, this is for OpenSolaris.  Solaris 10 support is entirely a 
different matter.
