So, I'd like to understand what isn't working here. So far I've not seen 
anything specifically wrong in your configuration? Is the NIC 
non-functional in some diagnosable way? (What does dladm show?)

I presume you are using SXDE 9/04, if you have nwam enabled by default. 
If you don't like nwam, you can disable it by doing

svcadm disable network/physical:nwam
svcadm enable network/physical:default

But in practice, nwam should be good for you.

So, please tell us more. What I'd like to know is:

more model information about your Toshiba Satellite Pro (that's a 
generic family name, specific model number that we can reference is more 
useful)

Output from the following commands:

dladm show-dev
scanpci -v
prtconf -vp
ifconfig -a
netstat -rn

Hopefully given all that, someone can put together a better picture of 
what is going on with your system.
