I gave up on trying Debian, and the latest build of Ubuntu 7.10. I decided I 
don't like them, but I wanted to see what people were raving about, and I 
wasn't impressed. :(

Plus you don't get all the SUN stuff like (Sun Compiler, DTrace, ZFS yada, 
yada)
