The X server side of the house is mainly in xwin-discuss - I don't know
that anyone but me from the X server team has subscribed to laptop-discuss
yet. (I'll point the list out to the rest of the team, since I don't
think anyone else has even told them it exists.)
As for the Intel resolution problems, yep it sucks. Don't buy a laptop
with a BIOS that doesn't know what it's screen resolution is. The i810
community maintainer is aware of the problem, and I believe is working on
possible solutions for the future. Until then, I don't think there's
much we can do other than try using the resolution tools. (We don't
actually work on the drivers ourselves, just bring in the source from
the community.)
