Hi Can,
We are in fact working with the Laszlo Web top team to bring certain
technologies over into OpenLaszlo itself. Much of this is driven by
the desire to create generic APIs that may be used by webtop and
other OpenLaszlo developers, but there's also the desire to
contribute code to OpenLaszlo so everyone may benefit from that
engineering. Laszlo Webtop is a commercial product, so Laszlo
Systems needs to be careful to preserve that value, but within that
business framework we believe there is room for contributions back to
OpenLaszlo. It's a little early to say exactly what will migrate, so
stay tuned.

I recently watched the keynote I'd recommend all to see it at

could perhaps answer. Will webtop be ported to the dhtml
runtime ? This would really improve the dhtml performance, and
bring some nice well tested components. I'm not talking about
releasing the apps, but I believe for the quality of webtop and
laszlo the components could be released open source, like you did
with laszlomail (the texteditor component for example). and tested
by the community as well. As well as development methodologies,
and data manipulation things and good examples of professional
openlaszlo usage. These could give developers some good base to
start with, because I believe there are many ways to do things but
good, professional examples help.
Cheers,
