I've just review a patch that Michael submitted to land it.
The patches conflicted. I kept Michael's actual fix that overtook mine
so as to minimize risk from changing it again, though I think it has a
slightly bigger risk of regression than mine did; I did land my test
which we had discussed before Michael started on his.
