As it happens, on plowing through the files and looking for anything I could
find in the archives, I realized that it wasn't a matter of removing the
line with "c-format" but of correcting the typo in the msgstr.
But since I know nothing about Swedish, and the translator hadn't put
anything in about plurals, the information you provided here about plurals
really helps me out by enabling the correct information to go in. Thank you
especially for that.
The reason I had hand-edited the file was in fact to correct just what you
said would happen -- poEditor put in incorrect information about the last
translator.
Since I am not working on Linux but instead on the Windows platform, can you
or someone recommend a safe utility for updating a po file against a new pot
file? From what I've learned from Gerald Schmidt, the XML Copy Editor
developer, in the past when he changed the program he added new messages by
hand to each of the po files. That was no problem initially, but now there
are 7 translations and things are on the verge of becoming complicated.
Even though I am inexperienced with translation, have no prior experience
with po files, don't use Linux and have just encountered Launchpad, I'm
probably the best person to take this over for him. I'm pretty much starting
from scratch but I want to help make desktop publishing and XML software
available to the Khmer computing community.
By the way, for offline work I have been working with Pootling on Windows,
which seems easier to manage than poEdit. In its next iteration it should
provide really useful features that are lacking in poEdit, like a suggestion
feature similar to what Launchpad has.

Never ever use a PO editor to update translation templates.
The editor will make changes to the header (such as Last-Translator)
Instead, use msgmerge for the gettext tools.
