Hello Doctor,

My initial opinion was that the judge was correct to have reduced the
verdict to manslaughter but should have sentenced her to spend a few
years in prison thinking about what she had done. I'm convinced that she
did have a role in the baby's death, although the information about the
prior injury has me wondering just how big of a role. However, now that
time has passed and she has remained under the cloud of suspicion and has
had to stay in Massachussetts while the appeal was being prepared makes
me feel that the best thing is to end it here, leave things as they were
decided by the judge and let her go home.

Certainly a new trial would be a tremendous emotional burden for the
parents. Much more so than thinking that Woodward got off easy, IMO.

Bill
