I used NX sessions to connect from South Africa to Belgium servers. :) I'm pretty sure internal LAN networks will be much faster, but why install extra remoting software when remoting is built into X11 protocol already? A simple "ssh -X u...@server" is all that is required to run applications remotely and display locally.
