I don't think so. On Linux first you have to check all depending packages (gdk-pixbuf-devel, gtk2-devel, libQt4-devel...) are installed and on some distros packages are named different. Then do all things discriped( without 5.1). And then you have create a symlink to your ppcxxx binary by hand.

All platforms have their pros and cons.

What about MacOS X. As far as I tested yet it should be the same as Linux. Am I right? A ".fpc.cfg" in HOME works, but how can I append the PATH? Is there a ".profile" too?
