Why not simply do something similar to what Mozilla did (accessible via --ProfileManager), but build it into 'startlazarus' somehow...eg: buttons on the splashscreen or something. So that startlazarus can prompt you for which "profile" you want to load up. You should also be able to add new profiles from that screen. That way you can possibly have one Lazarus icon on you desktop which can launch multiple profiles.
