This the way to go would be to just to make the string compare globally
configurable.
Of course this is more an FPC issue than a Lazarus issue.
As I feel that FPC is in the verge of a transition to use the Delphi XE
compatible "NewStrings" as the default string type, this seems like a
viable and doable enhancement right now.
