I can only speak for myself.
I originally mentioned the hotel discount offer. I haven't had any other
takers so far.
My German friend offered me free accomodation at an uncles place in
Munich. I would suggest that possibly others have similar free
accomodation offers in Munich also, or are not discussing the options on
the list.
There is two of us - and I think we will be going for a hotel or
backpackers. So that is at least two rooms. We looked up Hotels and
could find some for about 80-100 euros per night.
After your description of the Backpackers, I suspect that is where many
will end up staying...
