Hi,

Ok, I have added some of the modifications from Arnaud to the source,
and an updated tifficc and jpegicc is now available on site:

http://www.littlecms.com/tifficc.exe
http://www.littlecms.com/jpegicc.exe

Both are using the incoming 1.14 sources, so, it would be a chance to
check new functionality. Improved areas are gamut checking, more
built-in profiles and ability to save (grab) embedded profiles from images.

The CMYK issue on jpeg is a known glitch from Adobe. I'm not sure
if this is true or not, but as urban legend may be funny: In early versions
of Photoshop, Adobe hired a junior programmer to code some parts
of file formats. Internal Photoshop representation of inks is reversed,
so 100% of ink is encoded as 0 and 0% is encoded as 255. This is
sometimes known as "vanilla" flavor, as opposed to "chocolate", which
would be to represent 100% of ink as 255. Photoshop does use
chocolate flavor for RGB and vanilla flavor for inks.

So the junior programmer was unaware of the translation and simply
dumped the internal representation to the file. This worked for RGB
but not for CMYK. Then, for compatibility sake, latter revisions
of Photoshop keeps using same convention.

In past, I solved it by adding two patched files for ijg library,
but since it has been a source of problems, now jpegicc handles
the reversing by its own, so ijg code has not to be modified anymore.

Regarding CVS, well, I did set up CVS a couple of days ago, and
will try to update the files to reflect current development sources, but
still is a work in progress. So, please, don't take it too seriously as
it is not fully synchronized. Hopefully a working beta of 1.14 would be
available next week. And then I will try to get CVS operative.

Subject: [Lcms-user] Bug on jpegicc and correction

Hi,

I find what is wrong in jpegicc for the cmyk file.
I modify the source jpegicc.cc and now it is OK.
I request it to marti maria but see it is not on the cvs for the moment.
You can get my source file on:

http://home.tele2.fr/janc

Thanks

NB: For debug I check result image on gqview so it is not Photoshop
which is wrong but jpegicc.
