Paul: I agree with you that the next version of LDoms Manager *must* have the ability to "live migrate" guest LDoms between nodes. In addition, every effort should be made to not just have a full failover from 'node A to node B' as in your example, but instead, what is truly desired is the ability to fail over individual guest LDoms from any node within a given setup (providing they see the same I/O). For example, I would like the ability to have a '4 node' cluster as a configurable setup for live migration between physical servers with a single management utility. This allows massive consolidation for guests (to Solaris) and can provide enough tolerance to remove an entire server of guest LDoms for upgrades (system firmware/patching) without incurring outages. In fact, it may be better to incorporate SPARC support into Sun xVM Server and add "live migration" to better support the scenario.
