Hi, When you save the configuration to the hypervisor, it's stored in the ALOM/iLOM. I'm not a 100% sure if that is the case, but I believe most of the configuration that's stored in the hypervisor pertains to the partitioning of VCPU, MAU, Memory, IO, NIU, and VCC resources. The mapping of VSW, VDS, VDC, and VNET resources are stored in the /var/opt/SUNWldm/ldom-db.xml file. I have seen that if the ldom-db.xml file is lost, that generic names are given to the resources. So it would appear that the ldom-db.xml file contains the "given" names to virtual resources that are saved in the hypervisor configuration.
Definitely an interesting question. I wonder if this is in the UltraSPARC-T* hypervisor documentation.. If you had to rebuild your system in a DR situation.. you'd have to manually reconfigure the primary(control) domain and import your guest domain configs from the saved XML configuration files that you've hopefully backed up:) Although, you could probably restore the ldoms-db.xml file as well.. something like this: svcadm disable ldmd mv /var/opt/SUNWldm/ldom-db.xml /var/opt/SUNWldm/ldom-db.xml.orig cp <backup location>/ldom-db.xml /var/opt/SUNWldm svcadm enable ldmd ldm add-config initial shutdown -y -g0 -i 6 Wish I had my own box at home to test that out with:) *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Octave J.
