I am looking for some general clarification on a similiar issue. In the event that you are attempting to us a non-standard NIC, ie, not a direct physical NIC such as e1000g0, but rather e1000g10000 such as what is created if using tagging, this seems to indicate this is not possible.
That being the case, it would not be possible to deploy 2 LDOM's, each on a different subnet unless you were to use 2 physical NICs ?? Is this correct. What good is have the ability to virtualize servers if you don't have the ability to virtualize connections, such as networking and disk. Also, if this is the case, is the being discussed as a bug or RFE? The abilty to add a vsw with a net-device=e1000g10002 or e1000g8001, or something similiar seems to me it would be a must..... The alternative would be to have a physical NIC per LDOM, and on each LDOM, if you were to still require a high level of isolation, deploy containers on one of these LDOM's, then set them all to ip-type=exclusive; and very quickly you could have a single physical server with 10-20 physical network connections. Please tell me this is incorrect and if it is incorrect, what command syntax am I missing Regards, Dan -- This message was posted from opensolaris.org
