Where are you SSH'ing in from? I'd guess that you've got some kind of termcap issue, and that LEAF is defaulting back to some dumb terminal type. Do an 'echo $TERM' and see what you get, then maybe do something like 'TERM=vt100 sh' and see if that fixes the recall.
