Tom has released Shorewall 1.3.14 that will be the last version of Shorewall using ash. I am about to release Bering 1.1 that will be 2.4.20 kernel based and will be using Shorewall 1.3.14.
I have about decided to release a 1.4 series that will still be ash-based. This series will focus on compatibility at the configuration file level with the upcoming 2.0 release (although extension scripts will likely be different in 2.0).

As far as you idea is concerned I think that if you succeed to extend Shorewall with IPv6 capabilities that would be definitly a vey attractive approach. Otherwise it may be simpler to offer, as an alternative package to Shorewall, an IPv6 firewall.

I've asked Eric to call his IPV6 firewall something other than Shorewall even if it is Shorewall-based -- we want to avoid confusion among users as to what features the two products have and where they go for support.
