The possibility of similar action being taken with a LEAF variant is
concievable, so I feel that any information that could avoid this situation
would be worthy of being posted for any concerned parties.

Well in the intrestest of full disclosure, I have a miniscule
piece of information along those lines, *mostly in jest*, but still.

Long before Earth became SCO-aware, in the late 1990s, I inherited
UnixWare 7.1.0, liked it, and got my one and only computer cert.
as a Unixware 7 Master ACE by taking their courses in Santa Cruz,
courses that included 5 copyrighted training manuals. The OS was
not catching on too well, partly I figured because there wasn't
much usenet support. So I created the Unixware 7 FAQ and posted the
first version to comp.unix.unixware.misc on Oct 18, 1999. I retired
after 16 revisions on Feb. 12, 2002, basically because I saw the
writing on the wall... move on to linux or get left behind.

The ACE courses included a class on shell programing, where I learned
everything I know about Bourne, and following the sage advice of K&R,
I stole code and incorporated it into my rc.pf ipfwadm firewall.
If any of you are using that still (ha) then beware. Nowadays I don't
code for Bourne. I've moved onto Java.

Almost all of the Unix/Linux advice I gave on the lrp list and leaf-user
were synopses of lessons from those copyrighted courses. I still run
UnixWare 7.1.1 as my fileserver at home. I'm typing on it, in the CDE.

Does this sound silly? It does to me, the exact way their lawsuit sounds.
   \\ Initialize variables
is probably copyrighted. So as my knowledge is tainted, feel free to
kill file me, delete my software, and sue me. I have 8 fishing rods
and three computers... oh and $120 dollars.
