You may just rebuild packages that provide modules, + kernel of course. 
And adding new arch isn't usual everyday task :)

Improvements are good, but they'll take significant time.
At least, it'll be good to make different package type - "module 
package" - for initrd and moddb, that will have some wildcard/variable 
in name and files path, that will be replaced to kernel arch - to make 
arch adding easier. But it'll be after beta1 release.
