Good, that is what I was looking for, the current haserl documentation
does not show this subtle code difference anymore and I could not find
the reference to the old docs anymore.

Please extend the sedrules

s/<?/<%/g
s/?>/%>/g
s/%if/% if/g
s/if%/if %/g
s/%fi/% fi/g
s/fi%/fi %/g
s/%el/% el/g
s/el%/el %/g
s/% el %/% else %/g

and reapply. this should take care of the el/else issue
