Eventually, I hope to put a few services on this one too...ftp, ssh, etc.
but not immediately.
One question, relating to my second post re: getting ppp to fit on the
floppy. How did ya make space for the extra services, as well? Are you
running lrp from the computer's hard drive? If so, can you point me to some
simple directions or a howto? I think that would eliminate a lot of my
problems, as well as give me plenty of space to expand! suggestions please!

Yup, i figured this one out by going through the system startup messages,
and seeing that even though i had the module for 3c509 listed in
/etc/modules, the acutal module was 3c59x.o . by correcting this and putting
the module in the right place, i got the local network side of it working.
