That's what i do, though if a low level format is available, it will be a better
choice. When i wipe SCSI disks i ALWAYS use the format function in the
SCSI bios.
The command DOES end when the device is out of room. The last time i
did it was when my accountant gave me an old hard drive. He made me
promise to wipe the drive before using it, so i wrote zero's to it repeatedly.
This is very important as it is very easy to recover info from a drive where
everything has been deleted.
Be forwarned that there may still be ways of recovering the data if an
organization with lots of $$$ wants to recover data by putting the disk under
an electron microscope. ....but for normal privacy uses zeroing the drive should
suffice.
