Hello All,

We have been having so much trouble trying to get the Eigerstein Proxy-ARP to
work that we are going to go back and try to make a masquerading LRP work for
want we need as a temp solution.

we actually have an entire 146.9.31.x subnet with a gateway of 146.9.31.1 and
we use a mask of 255.255.255.0 from our admin.

We were working to set up a Proxy-ARP as a transparent LRP but could not get
the DMZ machines to talk to the internet.

One the LRP we had:

eth0_DEFAULT_GW 146.9.31.1

eth0_ADDR 146.9.31.19
masklen:24
eth0_ROUTES 146.9.31.1

eth1_ADDR 146.9.31.19
masklen:24
eth1_ROUTES 146.9.31.0/24

with the DMZ settings similar to eth1.

        | 146.9.31.1 (gateway)
        |
        |
        | 146.9.31.19
    --------
    | LRP |
    --------
        | 146.9.31.19
        |
        |
    -----------------------
    | | |
    | | .... | DMZ machines
   .29 .32 .51 with gateway 146.9.31.1

The problem was that from the LRP I could ping into the DMZ and also onto the
Internet, but could not ping from the DMZ onto the Internet.

I wish that I could figure out why this is happening.

In any case, we are able to get the masquerade LRP working for now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is it possible to have 3 NIC's in a box and 2 of them configured as external
IP's?

maybe something like:

   146.9.31.x

   | |
   | |
 (.42) (.44)
   | |
   | |
    | |
     | |
      | |
    -------
   | LRP |
   --------
      |
      | (192.168.1.254)
      |
      |
   -----------
   | | |
   | | |
   ( 192.168.1.x machines)

I wish to handle the mail on one of the external IP's and a dedicated system on
the other external IP.

Any ideas?

cheers,
Lonnie
