Always nice to get one right. I took a few minutes to try the obvious sources ... HowTos, kernel documentation, man pages ... but I didn't see even a hint of this conflict. It probably comes up rarely enough -- whoever really uses ports that high for incoming services? -- that if it gets discussed at all, it is only in rarefied circles like the kernel-development lists. Aside from suggesting you dig into kernel source ... I see Charles already made that suggestion ...
