hi,

yeah its a hd44780 controller it has 16 pins on the back + 16 soldering 
points ( if you wanted to solder or plug in )

i have got your pdf wiring diagram, i like it,  but i cannot make head nor 
tail of wiring diagrams

if you have any thing like:

LCD              LPT
1  connect to  3
2   connect to 9

some thing like that ;- )
