I am trying to create a bering floppy setup for my firewall and I am having
trouble I think with the nics being recognized. I am using a smz ez100 nic
and I tried using the tulip driver module and I also tried the 8139 module
because it works in my smoothwall, I also had installed a intel pro100+ and
took out a intel etherexpress16 because I wanted full duplex, I did not find
a module for the intel pro100, intel supplies uncompiled code for one called
e100.c but I am not set up to compile. I could not figure out which nic was
not being recognized but I did get a message line saying "eth1 does not
exist" I could not figure out which nic was eth0 and 1 and what address
they had, I tried ifup and ifdown but I am not very familiar with most linux
commands. I tried a few different modules but could not get it working.
smoothwall also did not recognise the intel pro100+ but smoothwall is using
ipchains and I wanted the capabilies found in bering (iptables etc.).

does anyone have any ideas for me to figure out what nics are working and
what are not?

thanks,
Tiger
