Just a thought... a couple of months ago, my ISP moved their DHCP server to an RFC1918 private address. My firewall was therefore blocking the necessary port 67 and 68 packets for renewals. On the initial boot, it would work fine because the DHCP lease was obtained before the firewall rules were put into effect.
I'm not sure that is what is going on with your system but it seems like something worth checking. regards! paul Paul M.
