Hi Craig, I ran into the same problem. When you copy the file over, just use the full name (and btw, it's ide-probe-mod.o):
cp ide-pr~1.o /boot/lib/modules/ide-probe-mod.o Oh, and another tip, when experimenting I use CD-RWs.
