SNMP strings depend on seting made by your service provicer. But you can try
default values which are
SNMP read = public
SNMP write = private
I was surprised how many companies using default values on their network
boxes :-))))

Very good site to find mib file describing what is implemented in your SNMP
device is www.mibcentral.com
Ooooops I just find out that this site is down???? Anybody know what
happened to mibcentral.com?

A bit more information on this technique...

Many cable modems use the LAN address 192.168.100.1 . In
addition to SNMP, many also have web-based interfaces that
listen on that address.

My last cable modem was a Motorola "shark fin" style modem
that could be reset from the LAN via the web interface or
SNMP. The SNMP community strings were default values that
I found searching mailing list postings and web forums via
google.

My current cable modem is an RCA/Thomson that supports SNMP,
but uses non-default community strings making it very
difficult to query or reset via SNMP commands. Searches for
your cable modem model, "DOCSIS", and "SNMP" in various
combinations on google should turn up tons of information.

Good luck.
