Came across lcd4linux. It looks more apt for LEAF kind of environment as a shell program can write to the lcd panel unlike LCDProc that has a client - server mode and we need to write a client program to achieve a specific display. In the varied deployment scenarios of LEAF, this would be pretty handy for those who do not compile executables and do not have a UML set up (like me).
