I have created a stock Dachstein-CD 1.0.2 and this boots ok (even with a blank floppy inserted). The symptom indicates etc.lrp is not being found (or not getting properly installed). As to why, it's hard to say without more details. Scroll back in the boot history (use <shift><Page-up>) and examine where the packages are being installed. Also, look carefully for any sort of error (like problems recognizing or mounting the CD).
Next I changed all packages to use fd0/msdos/partial for backup and backed up everything using the "L" option to a standard 1.44 floppy.
Then I reboot , still booting from the CD but with the floppy in the drive, and I get the following at the end of booting and loading all packages.
INIT: version 2.78 booting
INIT: cannot execute "/etc/init.d/rc.S"
INIT: Entering runlevel: 2
INIT: cannot execute "/etc/init.d/rc"
I then get a login prompt. I found that there are only three files in init.d (dhclient, dhcp, dnscache) and none of the /etc/rc?.d files exist either.
Is it possible that it is not backing up all of the etc package to floppy?
I have not made any configuration changes yet, just wanted to get a stock setup to boot from CD and save data to floppy. I have used EigerStein2BETA for over a year, but I have run out of room on floppy for additional packages.
I have read all the README's and HOWTO's but can not figure this one out.
I don't usually use the "L" option, preferring instead to backup individual packages, but AFAIK, it should still work (at least I haven't heard any other reports of problems).
