AFAIK, there is no arbitrary limit to the number of interfaces
Shorewall supports.  If there is, it is (probably much) higher
than four.

You are correct that there is no arbitrary limit on the number of interfaces supported by Shorewall. I only provide sample configurations for up to 3 interfaces but my own firewall has 4 (see http://www.shorewall.net/myfiles.htm).
