It worked first try.  2 changes from last time.  I went from Shorewall
1.3.12a to 1.3.4.  I connected to a MSN user, not an AOL user.  Don't

Actually, I believe that Ray probably had it nailed perfectly in his analysis. The key is that both peers are trying to connect to each other at the same time using the other's external port.

I'm curious if you see some dropped UDP packets being logged about the time of the connection and would like to at least get the "shorewall status" output. Such dropped packets would be consistent with Ray's analysis. If we don't see the dropped packets then I would like to look at the packet trace to see what exactly is going on.
