That's a new one on me.  Please tell us what distribution you
are using and also the URL where you downloaded the module.
You may be using a module from the wrong kernel tree.

This is probably not your immediate problem, but typically
IRQ 3 is used by one of the serial ports.  You might want
to use a different IRQ to avoid conflicts.  IRQ 10 is often
used for NICs.

Never heard of that one, but if it turns off PnP it probably
won't hurt and shouldn't be the cause of your module problem.

I have several 3c509s.  Interested. ;-)  Seriously though, I
think you will be very happy with the 3c509 after you get the
module problem worked out.  My bets are currently on a module
version mis-match.
