Does anyone have handy a precompiled bering kernel that is configured with CONFIG_MELAN=y ?
That option is necessary for the gettimeofday() clock to be correct on the soekris boards using the AMD/Elan processor. The stock kernel results in this kind of error from ntpd because the interval timer's clock frequency is different on the Elan from that on a standard PC. Uncorrected, timeofday falls behind about four minutes a day. 20 Dec 03:52:25 ntpd[11023]: time reset 3.778390 s 20 Dec 03:52:25 ntpd[11023]: synchronisation lost 20 Dec 03:57:59 ntpd[11023]: synchronisation lost 20 Dec 04:01:13 ntpd[11023]: synchronisation lost 20 Dec 04:04:27 ntpd[11023]: synchronisation lost 20 Dec 04:05:36 ntpd[11023]: time reset 3.375597 s 20 Dec 04:05:36 ntpd[11023]: synchronisation lost 20 Dec 04:12:13 ntpd[11023]: synchronisation lost 20 Dec 04:20:49 ntpd[11023]: synchronisation lost 20 Dec 04:21:57 ntpd[11023]: time reset 3.371584 s 20 Dec 04:21:57 ntpd[11023]: synchronisation lost Related, will the bering patches work on a vanilla 2.4.23 or 2.4.22 kernel? (I have those kernel.org sources handy) thanks, Steve ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials.
