Stephen, There is also an other option, if your NIC is supported, you can use ethtool.lrp and set the mac-address by first doing an "ifdown eth0" then "ethtool -s eth0 phyad <mac-address>" and after that "ifup eth0". Once set it should be preserved between reboots.
