Hej all,

first thanks for the great work on LEAF, especially Bering uclibc and
Martin Hejl for his Howto for configuring an AccessPoint.

I have quite a lot difficulties in doing so and after all I realized
that my troubles are caused due to bad link quality. In my Laptop
athstats says:

# athstats
46 beacon miss interrupts
5901 tx management frames
392 tx failed due to too many retries
3895 long on-chip tx retries
5652 tx frames with no ack marked
5942 tx frames with short preamble
77 tx frames with an alternate rate
19401 rx failed due to bad CRC
96378 PHY errors
    8531 OFDM timing
    87804 CCK timing
    43 CCK restart
4704 periodic calibrations
rssi of last ack: 7
rssi of last rcv: 12
662 switched default/rx antenna
Antenna profile:
[1] tx 2860 rx 11209
[2] tx 92 rx 52898

I cannot interpret all of this output, but one can see a lot of receive
errors due to bad CRC.

So my idea is to switch to different channels, but whatever I write in
/etc/network/interfaces that is like

wireless-channel 11

with different channelnumbers or simply left, I always get the same
result, the AP working on channel 1:

# iwlist ath0 scan

ath0 Scan completed :
          Cell 01 - Address: 00:80:48:54:85:81
                    ESSID:"gartenstr"
                    Mode:Master
                    Frequency:2.412 GHz (Channel 1)
                    Quality=8/70  Signal level=-87 dBm  Noise level=-95 dBm
                    Encryption key:off
                    Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 11 Mb/s; 6 Mb/s
                              9 Mb/s; 12 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s; 24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s
                              48 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s
                    Extra:bcn_int=100

Extra:wme_ie=dd180050f2020101820002a3400027a4000042435e0062322f00
                    Extra:ath_ie=dd0900037f01010020ff7f

You can see either the channel one and the bad quality. Switching the
channels seems impossible!

So, what to do?

Thanks,

Boris

PS: Im using a wlm54g23 in an alixbox (www.pcengines.ch/wlm54g23.htm).
It should support 13 channels in Europe.
