Well, there are two options. If you load only list data, then loading
orders should be fine (no financial impact). If you only load orders which
have actually been shipped and paid, consulting an order in the new system
would work just as well as consulting an invoice in the old system.

The other option (which I have actually seen being used in practice) is
that the merchant doesn't migrate anything but the unpaid invoices and some
balance information. If they keep Quickbooks for one more year, they'll
never look back at the old data after that and save themselves a costly
migration. Because: after a while, the "last invoice" is in the new ERP
instead of the old one.
