Hi, Just yesterday here in Vodafone ES, we had HTC downstairs in the lobby promoting their HTC Sensation (don't quite understand why as we all get free phones and usage here)....and it's a HUGELY impressive phone.
As for myself, I've never had an iPhone but have had a Mac for several years now....and I LOVE the HTC Nexus 1 (i.e. Googlephone, almost the same as the HTC Desire) that I've had for a new personal record of 18 months now. The Mrs has given me a b0llocking several times for constantly faffing about with it - particularly lately with the Murdoch scandal this last month! All the Apps I have have all been free, and have not yet actually bought one yet. My only tiny complaints are that Google Listen (for the podcasts) could improve, GPS and/or the jogging app seems to have been a tiny bit off, and of course there is the minor detail that Google KNOW everything now i.e. your are forced to get a gmail account and if you ever look at it you'd be amazed at the amount of your information is up there already - including your podcast history. The battery life as in all smartphones depends upon active usage i.e. it is the screen that runs down the battery, and I always have wifi and gps deactivated until I need to use them. The radio guys here say that the iPhone4 is unquestionably one of the worst phones for actual radio reception - can be notable with voice calls. For email - I only use it for personal email and I direct hotmail to gmail and it works well. I knew this was the best place to go! Answers in summary.... Jeff - We are an SME. Our emails are all done through pop/imap. No server Eric B - got an iphone to replace my HTC Touch HD (windows 6) which did nowt really so didn't really abandon HTC. Plus Android was in its infancy when I got the iphone. Am tempted by Android simply because then I will have iphone and android in my pocket. Betty/Richard/Wayne - HTC Desire is high in my current thinking but am worried about doing email on it. I loved my Blackberry bold but cant take to the Torch at all. I notice there is a new Touch Bold coming out. Verner, sounds good will look at it but am loathed to get another windows phone as they seem to be way behind the game now. Maybe in 18 months at next upgrade Dr Mike - it's the apps that I love so easy and convenient. Am considering an ipad rather than going for an iphone 5 when it comes out as I can use it in meetings for notes, films, music, reading books etc... Friend has one and spent entire holiday reading books on it. I'm typing this in Turkmenistan at the moment and there is very little wifi here and iphones wont connect to what wifi there is. Also TM Cell (the only network) doesn't have any roaming agreements with anyone so all my mobile connections don't work. Without having wifi/3G access the iphone (therefore also the ipad) loses a lot of its attraction! The only cloud in central asia is the smog from cars! _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman-new.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org MARCHING ON TOGETHER (There's it) _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman-new.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org MARCHING ON TOGETHER (There's it)
