My overriding memory of O'Deary is him sitting on the bench, chin in hands, looking out at his team of expensive misfits (being played out of position), and watching it all go wrong, but doing nothing about it - despite a bench full of players. Added to that, his horribly arrogant attitude - never again. He was lucky with that first team - one of those times when a great bunch of young players appeared together. He didn't have a clue how to coach them, or how to play tactically - second season every team had them figured out, and he had no answers. And once he started to spend big bucks, his lack of managerial ability became even more apparent.
